Perfection! | by ewitch

Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good.

I’ve been quiet lately but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t had things to say. Instead, I haven’t been happy with the way the website looks. I’ve wanted to make changes but couldn’t find the time.

Change is happening. At first, I didn’t want to post until all changes were done. What’s the point of having you read my thoughts when the format isn’t right or the homepage picture is off? Seriously, does that matter right now?

We constantly do this to ourselves:

  • I’ll buy new jeans whenever I’ve lost the weight.
  • I can’t have people over to my house because there are baskets of laundry and dishes in the sink.
  • I don’t have time to finish the project so I won’t start.
  • I can’t do a 6 mile run so I won’t run at all.
  • I won’t write until the blog layout is done.

The quest for perfection keeps us from living. Surrender to the imperfect. Embrace imperfections. It is through the imperfections that we learn more about ourselves and others. Come in to my messy house. You’ll see the love I have for my family, my drive to achieve more professionally, and the fun dinners we’ve shared together.

Perfection is also a lot like the game. The ticking timer makes us nervous. We know that even if we finish the task (i.e., achieve perfection), we have mere moments to relish it. Then, the buzzer sounds and the pieces fly everywhere. Time to start again. Either life does this or we do it to ourselves.

Come grow with me. During the next few weeks, I will be transforming from a blog into a full-fledged website. I’m developing my professional brand and learning to market myself. I want to grow with you. I want to share the things I love with you. I’m still going to write about navigating professionalism and motherhood/parenthood – but there’s more to this issue than random musings and it isn’t just limited to mothers and women. I want to do something that change the system.

Check back soon. Let’s see what develops.
